Whitney Houston Bombs in Brisbane. I Guess Bobby Brown Wasn’t Her Only Problem.

Whitney Houston‘s big Australian comeback tour got off to a rocky start in Brisbane.  Fans filled the Brisbane Entertainment Center expecting to hear the Whitney who became an international megastar with hits like “I Will Always Love You” and “Where Do Broken Hearts Go,” but instead, were treated to a diminished Whitney whose voice one fan described as “croaky.”  Another irate Whitney fan said of her performance, “She couldn’t entertain a dead rat, to be honest.”  Actually, no one could entertain a dead rat, because it’s dead.  But I guess we get the guy’s point:  Whitney sucked.

The fans who did manage to stick around through Whitney’s terrible dead-rat-non-entertaining performance, plus the 20 minute break Whitney needed at the halfway mark to rest her voice, were treated to a show-ending rendition of Whitney’s most famous song, “I Will Always Love You”  – a rendition the Australian AP music writer describes in less-than-glowing terms:

The multi-award winning singer appeared disoriented and failed to properly name some of her backing band as she introduced them to the audience. …the final act faltered at the finale when she croaked her way through “I Will Always Love You,” pausing to get a drink and towel herself down just as she was about to hit the song’s epic high note, which she turned into a soft coo.

Remember when getting rid of Bobby Brown was going to solve all of Whitney’s problems?  I think some people owe Bobby an apology.  If they can find him.
