Game of Thrones
The Red Priest, Thoros of Myr headlines day 67 on our countdown to the Game of Thrones season 4 premiere. Thoros is a priest of R’hllor the Lord of Light, and once he earned his priesthood, he was sent to King’s Landing to try and convert the Mad King, Aerys II from the religion of the Seven.
When his attempts at converting King Aerys to R’hllor, Thoros lost his faith, but remained in King’s Landing and became a permanent fixture at court. When Robert Baratheon became King, he and Thoros became drinking companions.
Thoros is known for his combat prowess, and won many tournament melees. His signature was his flaming sword, set alight with wildfire. During the Greyjoy rebellion, Thoros made a name for himself by being one of the first into the breach, attacking and terrifying the Ironborn with his flaming sword and insatiable battle lust.
In season three, Thoros captures The Hound and brings him to Beric Dondarrion to pay for his crimes. When Clegane kills Dondarrion, Thoros revives him by giving him the kiss of fire.
