Where were you when The Burning Crusade was released? I’ll tell you where I was, I was in line at Best Buy, waiting to get my collectors edition. For today’s World of Warcraft Throwback Thursday, I am nostalgically walking down memory lane with The Burning Crusade.
The Burning Crusade was the very first expansion for World of Warcraft. For a solid year, gamers everywhere were speculating that the expansion would have something to do with The Emerald Dream and Malfurion Stormrage, but that was not the case, as we would be introduced to Malfurion’s wayward brother, Illidan.
The expansion brought with it two new playable races: Blood Elves for the Horde, and Space Goats (Draenei) for the Alliance. It also introduced flying mounts, which was a fantastic addition to the game.
The final Boss of TBC was Illidan Stormrage, the Demon Hunter Night Elf, turned Demon, who awaited high level guilds from his tower inside the Black Temple. Illidan’s famous words “You are not prepared” was echoed by every gamer that watched the trailer for The Burning Crusade.
Did you play WoW when The Burning Crusade came out? What are some of your favorite memories from that expansion? Let me know in the comments below, and while you’re there, tell me what you would like to see as the next World of Warcraft Throwback Thursday.
