The powers at Marvel and Fox are rebooting The Fantastic 4 franchise. Oh boy, I haven’t been this excited about a reboot since Michael Bay’s announcement of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie (eye rolls).
Breathe easy my friends, with this reboot we are getting a new cast. No more suffering through Jessica Alba’s chronic BRF (Bitchy Resting Face) and her horrible over acting. Her acting has the emotional depth of a 5 gallon bucket. Chris Evans was the only part of the franchise worth watching. He was smart to move on with Captain America.
The new actors are much younger than the last group. Variety is reporting the actors have either closed deals or close to doing so. The cast consist of Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards), Kate Mara (Invisible Woman/Susan Storm), Michael B. Jordan (Human Torch/Johnny Storm) and Jamie Bell (The Thing/Ben Grimm).
I am not a fan of the casting of Mr. Fantastic. I would absolutely be on board if Michael B. Jordan or Jamie Bell were cast as Mr. Fantastic. Both actors have done serious movies and could play the brainy and mature Reed Richards. I believe Miles Teller would be better suited to play the cocky and reckless Human Torch. His past movies have proven he can pull off the role with relative ease.
I have seen some people online upset with Michael B. Jordan cast as Susan Storm’s brother because he is African American. I’m not sure why anyone would think this is a big deal. In this day in age of blended families and transracial adoptions, Jordan being cast as Mara’s brother is not beyond the pale. I hope the new cast can deliver but at this point anything would be an improvement from the last two movies.
