Game of Thrones Season 4 Countdown: Day 31

Game of Thrones

Season 4

Brandon “Bran” Stark, is the second son and fourth of five children, of Lord Eddard and Lady Catelyn Stark of Winterfell. Bran is described as having his mother’s looks, with auburn hair and blue eyes. He is young and adventurous, with a proclivity for climbing. It is this proclivity that is partly to blame for becoming crippled.

When King Robert Baratheon and his court came to Winterfell, in order to appoint Lord Eddard to the position as Hand of the King, Bran was excited to see the knights of the King’s Guard.

During their visit, Queen Cersei and her brother Jaime, went off to find a place to continue their incestuous relationship, and settled on an old tower that was part of the abandoned old Winterfell. The tower was one of Bran’s favorite climbing places, and he came upon the siblings, high up in the tower, having sex. Jaime pushed Bran from the window, in hopes of killing the child, so that their incestuous relationship would not be found out. Bran did not die, however, but fell into a coma.

Bran’s direwolf thwarted an attempted assassination on the young boy, and when Bran awoke, he named his direwolf, Summer. During his coma, Bran began to dream of a three eyed crow that told him he could fly, and after he came out of the coma, Bran began to learn all he could of his family’s history.

When his older brother Robb, called his father’s bannermen and began his march to King’s Landing, Bran was left as Lord of Winterfell. When Theon Greyjoy betrayed the Starks and sacked Winterfell, Bran and his younger brother Rickon, along with their direwolves, the Reeds, Hodor, and the Wildling woman Osha, escape Winterfell.

In season 3, Jojen Reed trains Bran to control his Warg-state, and teaches him about the greensight. When Jon Snow and the Wildlings fight outside the Queen’s Crown tower, Bran wargs into Summer, and helps defend his half brother from the attacking Wildlings. Because of Bran’s intervention, Jon is able to escape back to Castle Black.

Season 4 promises to delve even deeper into Bran’s story. What do you think will happen to Bran? Let me know in the comments below.
