The symbolism of St. Patrick’s Day is not lost on Major League Baseball. They indulge in the same fun celebration of the day, as you’ll find their sport covered in green for the day on March 17th. Each team typically wears some sort of special uniform, with kelly green caps and sometimes even jerseys, shoes, etc.

The New York Mets took things one step further this year by modifying the actual logo on their caps.

Call this what you will. A mischievous leprechaun might be a charitable description. Mr. Met’s evil twin might be another thought. No matter what your theory, it is kind of terrifying.

The only thing scarier than this St. Patty’s Day hat is the team’s situation at shortshop, amirite Mets fans?
